Statement by YB Wong King Wei:

With a humble heart, I would like to express my immense gratitude to Minister of Transport Malaysia YBM Anthony Loke for his confidence in me by appointing me as the Chairman of LPKP Sarawak. Last but not least, I would like to thank YBTM Chong Chieng Jen for his recommendation of this appointment.

I am fully aware that my appointment will be meaningless if there is no implementation of effective policies that will benefit the rakyat, especially my fellow Sarawakians.

Over the years, I have been advocating city mobility, especially on public transport. The traffic congestion in all major cities/ towns in Sarawak is getting from bad to worse. I have been tasked to implement a good public transport system in all cities, starting from Kuching.

The public transport system needs not to be luxurious nor expensive but what I determined to do is to establish a practical and efficient public transport system in Sarawak.

Apart from the public transport system, I will engage all the stakeholders to hear from them. I am open to their opinions as LPKP will not only be an efficient authority but also as an authority that upholds transparency and justice.

I will be reporting duty to LPKP HQ in Kuching located on the 12th Floor of Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Simpang Tiga on 20.2.2020 at 9 a.m. for a briefing from the officers of LPKP. A sessions meeting with Media Friends will be held at 10 a.m.
