Press Statement By Violet Yong:
I had on 17th November, 2020 instructed my Advocates Messrs. Chong Brothers Advocates to file a civil suit against Tan Kai, the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak and also Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad for libel with regard to a defamatory article published in Sin Chew Daily newspaper on the 16th October, 2020.
The Writ and Statement of Claim had been duly served on both the Defendants on 19th November, 2020. So far, no appearance has been filed by the Defendants despite service.
I verily believe the statements by Tan Kai against me were defamatory of me personally and in the way of my office and occupation.
