Why It Took So Long For MPP To Take Action?

Press Statement By Abdul Aziz:

This morning, I contacted the Complaints Unit of the Engineering Department of the Padawan Municipal Council (“MPP”) to inquire about the status of my complaint in relation to the landslide issue that occurred in Kpg Semeba, Batu Kitang DUN.

On 19 February 2021, a landslide incident has happened on the land belonging to Mr. Raymond anak Moseg. The matter was brought to the attention of the Complaints Unit from the Engineering Department of MPP. Since the Covid-19 outbreak cases increased at that time, I made a complaint through a phone call so that the MPP could take prompt actions to prevent any untoward incidents from happening.

However, until today (as of March 23, 2021), MPP has failed to take any action to resolve the landslide issue. When I contacted Mrs. Philo from the Complaints Unit of the Engineering Department, she told me that she had received the complaint on my behalf and forwarded it to Mr. Azizul, the Assistant Engineer of the Engineering Division.

First, a complaint has been made by me to the Complaints Unit of the Engineering Department. Secondly, the Complaints Unit of the Engineering Department had received the complaint. Thirdly, the complaint was forwarded to the Assistant Engineer. The question is, why is there no action taken? Why has MPP been delaying this issue for 33 days? Whereas, I have followed the proper procedure by making a complaint to the Complaints Unit of the
Engineering Department.

In fact, on the day of the incident, a few police personnel from the Kota Sentosa Police Station promptly went there with me to visit the landslide area. Definitely the Kota Sentosa Police Station has a record in their books regarding the landslide incident.

This is not the first time the MPP neglected the public’s complaints. Previously, MPP did not take any action to solve the sewage problem in Taman Flora Indah Jalan Arang. However, when I went down to look into the matter, the problem was resolved in less than 24 hours.

I think the quality of MPP services is still lacking in attentiveness. This is because the bureaucracy in the MPP itself causing the quality of their services to be sluggish. I urge the MPP to act immediately to resolve this issue. Don’t wait until next year to take action.
