Why Treated Water Still An Issue After 57 Years Governed

Press Statement By Brolin Nicholsion:

I was baffled by the statement made by the Utilities Minister Dato Sri Dr.Stephen Rundi that the state government is still talking about treated water supply.

According to him, 99% of Kuching’s had received access to treated water supply, and this is for me that the state government is incompetent in managing the state’s wealth.

After 57 years as the government of Sarawak, only 99% in Kuching and 87% for the rural areas covered by treated water supply. It should have 100% for the urban areas like Kuching while the rural areas should have received at least 90% treated water supply for a government that governs for 57 years.

As a government, they should realise their weaknesses after being in the government for too long and this issue should not be the topics for a government that governs for nearly two decades.

In Serian, some families are yet to receive the treated water supply even though Serian is a sub-urban area.

I do hope the government is sincere in helping the people of Sarawak to get the basic infrastructure and not just a near-election-political-drama. It already 57 years.
