The Rocket Night, fundraiser for DAP Sarawak HQ roars with support!

Kuching: A powerful show of unity and support was on full display as thousands gathered for the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak’s “The Rocket Night” fundraising dinner, aimed at raising funds for the renovation of the state headquarters.

Held at Theatre Hotel on 15 May 2025, the event drew an overwhelming crowd of party members, grassroots supporters, and well-wishers from across the state, many donning DAP’s signature red in a spirited show of solidarity.

The dinner is part of a broader fundraising campaign to renovate the party headquarters, which has long suffered from structural issues such as a leaking roof, cracked walls, and sunken floors. The extensive repairs are estimated to cost around RM300,000.

In his keynote address, DAP Sarawak Chairman Chong Chieng Jen expressed heartfelt gratitude to the attendees, calling the strong turnout a clear sign of the people’s desire for change and progress.

“Our goal to renovate the DAP Sarawak headquarters is not just about bricks and mortar – it’s about building a stronger foundation for Sarawak’s future. Tonight, you have shown us that the people are ready to move forward with us.

“With continued support from the people, we are confident that once the renovation is complete, it will become a home for all who believe in a better Sarawak,” Chong said.

Among the prominent figures in attendance were DAP National Chairman cum Damansara MP and Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo; DAP Sarawak Vice Chairman cum Mas Gading MP, Mordi Bimol; DAP Sarawak Organising Secretary cum Pending Assemblywoman, Violet Yong Wui Wui; DAP Sarawak Assistant Publicity Secretary cum Special Assistant to YB Chong Chieng Jen; Chairman of the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak, Michael Kong Feng Nian; and Stulang Assemblyman, Andrew Chen Kah Eng.
