Kuching: The Jualan Rahmah Madani Bergerak programme was recently held at Lorong 2 of the Stampin Resettlement Scheme, bringing subsidised essential goods directly to residents to help ease their cost-of-living burden ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.

The mobile sales initiative followed a similar programme held at the Arang Road Basketball Court last weekend, aimed at ensuring residents in nearby neighbourhoods have easier access to affordable household necessities.

Special assistant to Stampin MP, Michael Kong Feng Nian, said the programme was organised following a request to bring the initiative closer to residential areas so that residents could benefit from subsidised prices without having to travel far.

“By bringing the Jualan Rahmah Madani Bergerak directly into neighbourhoods, residents do not have to travel long distances, spend unnecessary time on the road, or queue at crowded supermarkets just to purchase necessities,” he said.

He added that organising the programme within communities makes it easier for families, particularly the elderly and those without transport, to obtain daily necessities at lower prices.

“This round of the programme was also specially arranged to serve residents in the Arang Road and Stampin Resettlement Scheme areas, especially with our Muslim friends in mind, as they prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.

“We hope the subsidised prices offered through this programme will help ease the financial burden of families as they make preparations for the festive season,” he said.

Kong noted that such initiatives are made possible through collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.

“We are grateful for the ministry’s continued support in ensuring that cost-of-living initiatives such as this can reach communities that need them most,” he said.

Looking ahead, Kong said more similar programmes would be organised in targeted communities during major festive seasons.

“Moving forward, we will continue to work with the ministry to organise similar initiatives from time to time, particularly during festive seasons such as Hari Raya, Gawai and Christmas so that assistance can reach the people in a practical and meaningful way,” he added.
