Kuching: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has received RM100,000 in funding for equipment and facility upgrades, following an allocation by the office of Bandar Kuching MP Dr. Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen.
Dr. Kelvin Yii said SGH remains one of the busiest and most essential healthcare institutions in the region, managing a consistently high patient volume, but noted that many of its facilities and equipment are outdated or no longer functioning optimally.
“This situation has hampered service delivery and affected overall efficiency at the hospital,” he said.
He said the allocation was made in response to the urgent need to improve the hospital’s facilities and working environment.
“My office has allocated RM100,000 to support critical upgrades at SGH,” he said.
Dr. Kelvin Yii added that a significant portion of the funding will be used to procure essential equipment, including four-seater polyurethane-linked chairs, desktop computers, computer monitors, laptops, executive chairs, and other related items.
“These upgrades will significantly enhance the hospital’s digital infrastructure, help streamline work processes, and improve service quality for both patients and staff,” he said.
He stressed that the improvements are crucial to strengthening SGH’s capacity to deliver timely, high-quality healthcare.
“These upgrades are essential to improving the hospital’s functionality and ensuring a more comfortable environment for patients and staff,” he said.
Dr. Kelvin Yii said his office remains committed to supporting public healthcare institutions.
“By investing in these improvements, we aim to strengthen SGH ability to continue providing quality care to the people,” he said.
