Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol meets villagers in Jagoi to discuss solutions amid ongoing water supply disruptions.

Bau: Following ongoing disruptions and low water pressure, emergency water tanks will be deployed to Jagoi to assist residents in Kampung Stass, Kampung St. Mark Stass, and Kampung Krawong Stass.

The short-term measure aims to ensure that every household continues to have access to clean water while long-term solutions are implemented.

Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol, emphasised that access to clean water is a basic necessity and that the recurring disruptions cannot be allowed to persist.

He noted that the interruptions have affected daily life, health, hygiene, and the economic activities of local residents.

“Low water pressure was identified through community monitoring and resident complaints. In response, scheduled water deliveries will continue to affected villages to ensure families receive sufficient water,” he said in his Facebook posting.

In the meantime, he will ensure the scheduled water deliveries are made directly to the affected villages so that every family receives sufficient water.

Mordi added that, in the long term, the Sarawak Water Board (JBALB) is implementing a RM7 million alternative pipeline project for the Jagoi area.

“The project involves constructing additional pipelines from Bau and alternative supply routes to increase capacity, stability, and water pressure.

“These alternative routes are designed to reduce reliance on a single source and improve the resilience of the system against future disruptions,” he said.

The project is expected to be completed in approximately five months, ahead of the Gawai festival, depending on progress and weather conditions.

Mordi affirmed his support for JBALB’s efforts and said that emergency assistance, including water tanks, will continue until the water supply is fully stabilised.

“The welfare of Jagoi residents remains our top priority,” he stated.
