Kuching: DAPSY Stampin Chief Soo Tien Ren described Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol’s appointment as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports as recognition of his hard work and a meaningful signal that the voices of Sarawakian youth and marginalized communities are being heard at the federal level.

Soo highlighted Mordi’s long-standing commitment to youth development, particularly his work with Sarawak’s rural communities, indigenous youth, and groups often overlooked in national development.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports plays a key role in nurturing the nation’s next generation of leaders. I am confident that Mordi’s deep understanding of grassroots realities, combined with his principled approach to public service, will bring about more inclusive, effective, and accessible policies that benefit young people across the country,” he said in a statement.

Soo added that he looks forward to continuing close collaboration with Mordi, working together to empower youth, expand opportunities, and strengthen sports development – all in the spirit of building a fairer and more inclusive Malaysia.

“Once again, my warmest congratulations to Mordi. I wish him every success as he takes on this important role,” he said.

Mordi was appointed Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a special press conference on the MADANI Government Cabinet reshuffle yesterday.

He, who is also the DAP Sarawak Vice Chairman, is a new face in the cabinet, taking over responsibilities previously held by Hang Tuah Jaya MP Adam Adli Abd Halim.

Meanwhile, the Ceremony for the Presentation of the Letter of Appointment and the Oath-Taking Ceremony for the Position, Loyalty, and Secrecy Oaths took place at the National Palace today.
