Kuching: Another victim of an alleged investment scam involving an officer of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has come forward after reading media reports exposing the case, said DAP Sarawak Chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

The latest victim, identified as Mr. Hong, allegedly invested RM300,000 in 2024 in an investment fund proposed by a BSN employee.

He only realised that the investment was fraudulent after reading news reports on Chong’s exposé published on 28 November 2025.

According to Chong, Mr. Hong subsequently went to BSN to verify his investment and was informed that the bank had no record of him as an investor in the fund.

“Mr. Hong has since lodged a police report, filed a dispute claim with BSN, and travelled to Kuala Lumpur to submit a report to Bank Negara Malaysia,” he said in a statement.

Chong said he has held several meetings with BSN’s executive management since the first exposé and has followed up on all cases referred to him.

“At our latest meeting, BSN informed me that compensation to some of the victims will begin as early as next week,” he said, adding that the process would continue to be closely monitored.

To date, two charges have been filed against the suspects – one involving RM16,000 and another involving RM300,000.

However, Chong said the primary suspect is believed to have cheated more than RM11 million from over 70 individuals, and more charges are expected to follow.
