Sibu: Five Chinese secondary schools here have each received an allocation of RM10,000 from the Service Centre of Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew in recognition of their long-standing contributions to education and talent development in Sibu, Sarawak, and the nation.
The special allocations, meant as operational funding, were distributed to Catholic High School, Wong Nai Siong Secondary School, Guong Ming Middle School, Kiang Hin Middle School, and Citizen Middle School.
Ling highlighted the pivotal role Chinese secondary schools have played for decades in preserving and promoting mother-tongue education within the Chinese community.
He noted that even during earlier periods when government assistance was absent, these schools continued to persevere through strong support from the business sector and the public.
“Their resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Chinese education are truly commendable,” he said.
Ling also praised the schools for producing generations of graduates who have excelled across various fields and contributed to national development.
“For decades, these institutions have nurtured countless students, shaping many into leaders and skilled professionals. Their contribution to the nation is both immense and deeply appreciated,” he added.
