Roderick Wong says the “10A automatic to matriculation” policy by KPM marks a major step toward a fairer and more credible education system in Malaysia.

Sarikei: The implementation of the “10A automatic to matriculation” policy has been described as a significant milestone in strengthening the credibility of the national education system while boosting students’ confidence in their academic future.

According to DAPSY Sarawak Deputy Chief Roderick Wong Siew Lead, the policy introduced by the Ministry of Education (KPM) reflects the government’s commitment to a more transparent and merit-based education system.

“The ‘10A automatic to matriculation’ initiative is an important achievement that not only enhances the credibility of the system, but also increases students’ confidence in the national education framework,” he said.

Wong, who is also DAP Sarikei Chairman, emphasised that the government should institutionalise this policy as a long-term and stable national education mechanism.

“Only with a clear and consistent education pathway will students be motivated to strive harder. At the same time, it will help retain local talent and reduce the outflow of skilled professionals abroad,” he added.

He further noted that sustaining such policies is crucial in building a strong foundation for innovation and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the future.

In a statement on 8 April 2026, KPM announced that students who achieve 10A or more in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 examination will be automatically offered placement into the matriculation programme.
