Kuching: The ongoing road resurfacing works along Jalan Teo Kui Seng have drawn public concern over the inconvenience caused to motorists, with both lanes being dug up simultaneously.
Michael Kong Feng Nian, Special Assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, criticised the approach taken by the contractor, saying it has resulted in vehicles being forced to travel on uneven road surfaces.
“The proper and practical approach should have been to complete one lane first before proceeding to the next.
“This would have ensured a smoother flow of traffic while allowing the resurfacing works to continue efficiently,” he said in a statement.
Kong stressed that public infrastructure projects must be carried out with the convenience and safety of road users in mind, rather than for the ease of contractors.
He urged the relevant authorities to closely monitor the situation and instruct the contractor to expedite the resurfacing works to restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
