Kuching: The Stampin parliamentary has stepped up efforts to ease the cost of living, having organised four Jualan Rahmah Madani Bergerak mobile sales programmes since January this year.
The latest programme, held at the Sentosa Sports Centre, 7th Mile, received an encouraging response from residents, reflecting strong community support for the initiative.
Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, through his office, has been working closely with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living since the beginning of the year to bring the Jualan Rahmah Madani Bergerak initiative directly into neighbourhoods across the Stampin parliamentary area.
His Special Assistant, Michael Kong Feng Nian, said the four mobile sales organised since January demonstrate the MP’s consistent and proactive commitment to ensuring residents have access to affordable essential goods.
“Since January, the Stampin MP’s office has organised four Jualan Rahmah Madani Bergerak programmes in different neighbourhoods. This is on top of the various Jualan Rahmah Madani initiatives already taking place at participating supermarkets,” he said.
He added that the mobile format allows subsidised goods to be brought directly into residential areas, offering greater convenience, especially during festive periods when supermarkets are crowded and traffic congestion can pose challenges.
The items sold at the Sentosa programme were carefully selected in collaboration with the Ministry and participating operators, with a focus on essential goods and products relevant to the recent Chinese New Year celebrations.
With subsidies ranging between 20 and 30 per cent provided by the Federal Government, the initiative has helped families enjoy meaningful savings as they prepare for the festivities.
“The strong turnout at each location reflects continued demand for such community-based programmes.
“The Stampin MP’s office will continue to work closely with the Ministry to organise more such initiatives, particularly during festive seasons, so that more communities within the Stampin parliamentary area can benefit,” Kong said.
