Lundu: Mas Gading students have been urged to exercise greater caution when choosing educational institutions, courses, or study programmes amid various education and skills training offers promising job opportunities and lucrative incomes.
Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol said young people should carefully examine every offer before making a decision, including the total tuition fees, additional costs, programme accreditation, course content, and employment prospects upon graduation.
“Do not make decisions simply because you are attracted by offers that seem too good to be true. Check them carefully first,” he said at the 2026 Mas Gading Further Studies Incentive (ISB) presentation ceremony held here recently.
He congratulated all recipients and expressed hope that the incentive would help ease some of their education expenses, particularly during the initial stages of their studies.
Now in its fifth year, the Mas Gading ISB programme has allocated RM135,500 to benefit 271 recipients this year, helping to ease their financial burden.
Mordi said educational support should not stop at providing financial incentives but should also include greater access to information and opportunities to help young people make informed decisions.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports also expressed hope that the programme could be expanded into the Mas Gading Youth Carnival, bringing together educational institutions, government agencies, industry players, entrepreneurs, and community representatives.
He said the platform could provide information on education, skills training, careers, entrepreneurship, technology, sports, and personal development.
He added that the initiative would create more opportunities for young people to explore prospects, develop their skills, and create opportunities of their own.
The ceremony was also organised by three Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) students undertaking their industrial training at the Mas Gading MP’s Service Centre.
