Bau: A total of RM50,000 has been allocated to the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau) under Projek Mesra Rakyat 2024 to facilitate the procurement of operational assets and equipment.
Mas Gading MP, Mordi Bimol said the allocation aims to ensure police personnel are adequately equipped with essential facilities, enabling them to carry out their duties more comfortably, safely, and effectively in serving the public.
He explained that the allocation was based on actual needs on the ground, noting that some officers have had to use work equipment purchased with their own funds to ensure tasks could be carried out without compromising service delivery to the community.
“This situation is not unique to IPD Bau but is also faced by other government agencies such as fire stations, hospitals, clinics, and schools, particularly in rural areas,” he said.
He added that the contribution provides direct added value to the operational capacity of IPD Bau, allowing officers to focus fully on enforcement duties and community service without being burdened by basic logistical constraints.
The contribution was officially handed over to the Bau District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman, and witnessed by Senior Assistant Director (Special Section), Sarawak State Development Office, Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Abdul Rahim, and Assistant Director (Special Section), Sarawak State Development Office, Mohd Aliff Faizal Hamid.
In addition, RM5,000 was also contributed to the Bau District Police Club to support welfare and well-being programmes for police personnel.
Mordi also announced that, for 2026, an additional allocation of approximately RM50,000 will be provided for improvements to the public inquiry area at Bau Police Station to ensure a more comfortable, people-friendly environment for members of the public.
“I hope this contribution will not only ease the burden of our officers but also strengthen police services to the community, thereby enhancing public confidence in safety and community well-being in Bau,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to support frontline personnel by ensuring they are equipped with the necessary facilities and resources, as their effectiveness is key to safeguarding public safety and well-being.
