
Kuching: SK Kenyalang has received an allocation of RM196,080 from Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen for the upgrading and improvement of various school facilities aimed at providing a more comfortable and conducive environment for students and teachers.
Dr Kelvin Yii handed over the allocation during a recent visit to the school.
According to Dr Kelvin Yii, the funding will be used for a series of improvement works, including upgrades to the male teachers’ toilet facilities.
“The project includes improvements to the windows, flooring and tiles, as well as the installation of new wash basins, lighting fixtures and exhaust fans.
“The teachers’ office will also undergo extensive upgrading works, including the installation of an emergency exit door, repainting, rewiring, replacement of floor tiles, lighting fixtures, fans and notice boards, and the addition of a pantry area. Office tables, chairs and other furniture will also be replaced to provide teachers with a better working environment,” he said.
In addition, the school canteen will be upgraded through repainting works, replacement of two wooden doors and one aluminium door and window, construction of a new awning, and installation of a new water basin.
Part of the allocation will also be used to enhance the school’s digital facilities with the installation of an 85-inch smart interactive whiteboard in the meeting room and library, as well as a 65-inch smart interactive whiteboard in the principal’s office for meetings, briefings and engagement activities. LCD displays will also be installed for CCTV monitoring purposes.
Dr Kelvin Yii said education is one of the most important investments in the future and that improving school facilities is essential to support quality teaching and learning.
He expressed hope that the allocation would benefit all students and teachers at SK Kenyalang by providing a more conducive environment for learning and teaching, while creating better conditions for children to grow and reach their full potential.
