Kuching: The Madani Government’s decision to reduce the RON95 petrol price to RM1.99 per litre, effective 30 September 2025, has been described as a strong signal of responsible governance.
Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong Wui Wui said the latest measure, coming on the heels of the SARA RM100 assistance, shows that the government is not only listening to the people’s concerns but also acting swiftly to ease their financial burden and safeguard household purchasing power for the long term.
“The Madani Government continues to show clear commitment to the welfare of the rakyat, first through the SARA RM100 assistance and now by reducing the RON95 petrol price to RM1.99 per litre starting 30 September 2025. These back-to-back measures directly ease the cost of living and deserve full recognition.
“Unlike previous administrations, the Madani Government has demonstrated that it is working hard to implement policies that genuinely help and benefit the people, focusing on practical measures that strengthen household purchasing power and ease daily living costs,” she said in a statement.
Earlier, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the RM1.99-per-litre rate under the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) initiative.
Yong noted that in Sarawak, this petrol price cut is significant.
“Our vast state still lacks reliable public transport, and most residents depend on private vehicles for work, schooling, healthcare and daily errands.
“Lower fuel costs therefore bring immediate relief to households facing long travel distances and higher transport expenses,” she said.
She added that bringing RON95 back to RM1.99 per litre demonstrates the government’s commitment to practical, people-centred policies that strengthen household purchasing power.
“The last time Malaysians enjoyed a RON95 price of RM1.99 was in March 2020, when global oil prices briefly collapsed.
“Reaching this level again despite today’s uncertain economic climate highlights how the Madani Government differs from previous administrations, proving that it is working hard to implement practical, people-centred policies,” she said.
