Kuala Lumpur: Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol has expressed his full support for the Ministry of Transport’s initiative, through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), to implement the JPJ Inspection and Safety Audit (JISA) in digital form by 2027.
He described the digitisation of the commercial vehicle safety audit process as a positive step toward improving efficiency, integrity, and transparency in monitoring the compliance of lorry, bus, and other commercial vehicle operators across the country.
“This digitalisation effort is crucial to ensure that the audit process is conducted more transparently, swiftly, and with integrity, while also reducing the risks of data manipulation and delays in enforcement actions,” he said in a statement.
Mordi welcomed the explanation given by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook in the Dewan Rakyat on 7 October 2025 regarding the implementation of the safety audit and the ministry’s digitalisation efforts, which aim to enable real-time monitoring of safety compliance levels among commercial operators.
Mordi suggested that the system be implemented in phases, with regular progress reports to assess technical capability and effectiveness at each stage.
This approach, he said, would allow the government and implementing agencies to identify operational challenges early and accelerate the integration of GPS data for direct monitoring of heavy vehicles nationwide.
Mordi also emphasised the importance of extending the digital system to Sabah, Sarawak, and rural areas, noting that logistical and operational challenges differ across regions but remain equally critical to ensuring road safety.
“Road safety should not only be viewed as regulatory compliance but as an effort to save lives. Continuous safety audits, GPS tracking systems, and strict enforcement of speed limits are essential steps toward that goal,” he stressed.
He added that with a digital, inclusive, and transparent approach, Malaysia’s safety audit system could become more modern, effective, and preventive – ultimately strengthening public confidence in road safety nationwide.
