Bau: The long-standing shortage of parking space that had caused congestion at SMK Bau has now been resolved through the completion of a RM100,000 Projek Program Mesra Rakyat (PMR) 2024 under the P.192 Mas Gading parliamentary constituency.

Implemented by the Bau District Education Office, the project involved demolishing an old waterfront structure that had long been closed due to deterioration. The area was subsequently filled with earth and surfaced with stone to create a new parking area for teachers, staff, parents, and students.

Mas Gading MP Mordi Bimol said the project had been fully completed and officially handed over to the school, helping to ease the traffic congestion that frequently occurred during peak hours.

“The parking shortage at SMK Bau had persisted for quite some time and affected traffic flow as well as the safety of the school community.

“With the completion of this project, we are now able to provide a more organised, comfortable, and safer parking area for teachers, staff, parents, and students,” he said after the recent handover of the completed project site.

Mordi, who is also the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, said the project demonstrated how government allocations could be translated into practical solutions that directly benefit the local community.

“We want every government allocation to be utilised effectively to address the real problems faced by the people. This project not only increases parking capacity at SMK Bau but also improves traffic flow within the school compound and enhances safety for all users,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Bau District Education Office for completing the project according to schedule.

The new parking area is expected to reduce congestion within the school compound, improve traffic circulation, and enhance the safety and convenience of everyone at SMK Bau.
