Kampung folks demand GPS for electricity to be connected to their longhouse.
In a dialogue session during meet the people session in Kampung Samak, Ulu Undup, the longhouse folks told the DAP State Committee & Sri Aman Chairman Leon Jimat Donald on their suffering.
‘It was found out that out of the 8 longhouses in Ulu Undup, only Kampung Samak is not connected to the State electrical grid. The GPSBN representative keeps giving excuses after excuses, on when inquired about the delay which now is going into its third year after every other longhouse in Ulu Undup is enjoying uninterrupted electrical supply.’
‘The longhouse folks misery is also added by the terrible road conditions leading up to their kampung which is located high up next to Mount Tiang Laju. The longhouse folks have asked the PH Government to intervene on their behalf which I reiterated that kampung roads & electrical supply were under State Government jurisdictions.’
‘There is no political will to resolve this issue which plagues kampung Samak, where each bilik spends at least RM400 for fuel to generate their generator set. Only a PH led State Government has the political will which can alleviate their problems,’ added Leon.
Leon was meeting the longhouse folks to present a cheque given by YB Tuan Chong Chieng Jen, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs.
