Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) plans to rebuild the ageing Jalan Oya Health Clinic at its original location, according to a written reply to a parliamentary question from Sibu Member of Parliament, Oscar Ling Chai Yew.
According to the MOH, the reconstruction of the clinic as a Klinik Kesihatan Jenis 2 Jalan Oya will be proposed under Rolling Plan 2 of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13), subject to approval and allocation from central agencies.
Oscar Ling had asked the MOH to state the status of the relocation or reconstruction of the deteriorating Jalan Oya Health Clinic in Sibu, noting that residents opposed a proposed move to University Town.
He questioned whether the government would rebuild it at the original location or a nearby area, and requested details on the plan and implementation schedule.
The MOH stated that, to allow the project to proceed, the clinic’s services would be temporarily relocated to 15 units of three-storey shop lots in University Town, located about seven kilometers from the original site.
“This is to ensure uninterrupted delivery of services,” it said.
