Press Statement By Michael Kong:
Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement that Bersatu will be joining UMNO and PAS in Muafakat Nasional finally confirms all speculations. All this while, it was said that that the Prime Minister was on borrowed time and merely relying on UMNO + PAS to realise his insatiable thirst and greed to be the Prime Minister. With UMNO’s announcement that it will not join Perikatan Nasional but focus on Muafakat Nasional, it was a game of Russian Roulette. Whoever blinked first would mean yielding to the other party. Unfortunately for Malaysia, the Prime Minister lost and succumbed to UMNO + PAS.
With all this talks of Muafakat Nasional or Perikatan Nasional, it is clear that the formula is the same. UMNO will always be the main player and have the final say in how things goes down. With the extremist PAS by its side, UMNO can now care less about the minorities especially the Dayaks, Chinese and Indians.
GPS can continue to live in denial and say that them opting to back Bersatu + UMNO + PAS is for the political stability of this country. The fact is the political stability that GPS is seeking is the continued existence and survival of Barisan Nasional.
