Kuching: More than 200 underprivileged families in Bandar Kuching Parliamentary received festive assistance ahead of Chinese New Year through a charity event jointly organised by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen and ADUN for Pending Violet Yong Wui Wui yesterday.

The charity drive saw families receiving supermarket vouchers, festive cookies, and angpow, easing their financial burden while spreading the blessings of the Year of the Horse.

“Festivals are best celebrated together. We want every household, especially those in need, to feel valued, remembered, and embraced by the community,” said Dr Yii.

The initiative not only provides practical support but also strengthens community ties, fostering a spirit of compassion, unity, and shared responsibility.

Dr Yii emphasised that this is part of an ongoing commitment to ensure that vulnerable groups are never left behind during important cultural celebrations.

“Moving forward, we remain committed to continuing similar initiatives, working hand in hand with community leaders and volunteers to uplift those in need and to ensure that the spirit of togetherness and generosity continues to shine brightly in our constituency,” he said.
