Serian: DAP Serian says it is ready to offer the people of Serian a young, educated, and professional candidate in the next General Election following indications that incumbent MP Dato’ Sri Richard Riot may once again defend the parliamentary seat.
DAP Serian Committee Member Brolin Nicholsion said while Dato’ Sri Richard Riot has every democratic right to seek another mandate from the people, the upcoming election should also provide voters with an opportunity to consider a new generation of leadership.
“Dato’ Sri Richard Riot has the right to contest and seek the people’s mandate again. This is because there is no age limit for a person to contest in a general election, and it is the right of every Malaysian citizen to do so.
“However, it is ultimately up to the people of Serian to choose whoever they want to represent their voices as their leader,” he said in a statement.
Brolin stressed that Serian indeed needs a fresh and hardworking leader who will always place the needs of the people as the top priority.
“Therefore, DAP Serian welcomes Dato’ Sri Richard Riot to defend the seat and is ready to challenge the candidacy.
“DAP Serian will always put the people’s agenda first and will fight for the many, not the few,” he said.
He added, the recent announcement by Dato’ Sri Richard Riot that there is a possibility of him defending the Serian parliamentary seat in the coming general election, has a valid basis.
