Kuching: DAP Sarawak will celebrate the Democratic Action Party’s 60th anniversary with a fundraising dinner on 21 August 2026, bringing together members, supporters and friends to commemorate the party’s six-decade journey and support its continued grassroots service.

The dinner will be held at 6.30 pm at CityONE Xiang Ge Restaurant and will carry the themes “60 Years On – For One and All” and “Fearless Against Power, Moving Forward Against the Tide”, highlighting DAP’s longstanding commitment to democracy, accountability, justice and serving the people.

The fundraising dinner Organising Chairman Soo Tien Ren said the 60th anniversary represents not only an opportunity to reflect on the party’s history, but also a new beginning as DAP continues its mission for the future.

“Over the past six decades, DAP has remained committed to serving Malaysians from all walks of life. Our struggle has never been limited to any particular group, but is about every ordinary Malaysian who works hard, cares for their family, contributes to society and hopes for a better future,” he said.

Soo said DAP believes that the true purpose of politics is to improve people’s lives, adding that the party has continued to stand with communities through both challenging and difficult times.

He said proceeds from the fundraising dinner will be channelled towards strengthening DAP Sarawak’s grassroots organisation, expanding community service programmes, improving policy outreach, nurturing future leaders and supporting initiatives that address the needs of Sarawakians.

“The funds will allow us to continue reaching out to communities, assisting those in need and speaking up on issues that affect the daily lives of Sarawakians, while providing constructive checks and balances,” he said.
