Kuching: Bandar Kuching MP Dr. Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen has announced a significant allocation of RM100,000 from his parliamentary constituency fund over two years to support the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), Sarawak Branch, in enhancing its emergency and humanitarian response services.
For 2025, RM50,000 has been designated specifically for the acquisition of a new, fully equipped ambulance, bolstering the Red Crescent’s emergency medical services in the region.
A further RM50,000 has been pledged for 2026 to support MRCS’s broader humanitarian and community outreach programs.
“This grant is more than just financial assistance – it is a heartfelt recognition of the Red Crescent’s long-standing dedication to our community.
“Their volunteers and emergency response teams have consistently delivered life-saving assistance and support to those in crisis,” Dr. Kelvin Yii said in a statement.
He emphasised that the new ambulance will significantly enhance MRCS’s capacity for rapid emergency response across Sarawak, serving as a “beacon of hope” for those in urgent need of medical aid and reassurance.
Dr. Kelvin Yii also expressed his commitment to expanding collaboration between his office and the MRCS in areas such as public health outreach, social welfare initiatives, and emergency preparedness.
“We share a common vision – to build a more caring, united, and resilient society. By working together, we can bring real and lasting change to the lives of many,” he added.
In a call to action, Dr. Kelvin Yii encouraged the public, businesses, and civil society organisations to support humanitarian efforts through donations, volunteerism, and advocacy.
“Every bit of support counts. Let us uplift one another and create a safer, stronger, and healthier Sarawak,” he said.
