Kuching: The Malihah Methodist Church has received significant infrastructure upgrades following the successful disbursement of RM250,000 in federal funding, announced Michael Kong Feng Nian, Special Assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen.
Although the church is located outside the Stampin parliamentary constituency, Michael Kong emphasised that the welfare of the community transcends constituency boundaries.
“The safety and well-being of our children, and the integrity of institutions that serve the community, must always be prioritised,” he said in a statement.
The allocation, approved by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Local Government on 3 December 2024, was utilised for several key improvements: the installation of a new CCTV system, maintenance of air conditioning units, an extension of roofing, and expansion of the kindergarten floor area.
Michael Kong revisited the church this week to inspect the completed works and expressed satisfaction with the upgrades.
“These improvements will no doubt enhance the safety, comfort, and functionality of the premises for both churchgoers and the children attending the kindergarten,” he said.
He also praised the church committee for its efficiency in executing the project, calling it “a shining example of what can be achieved when communities, government, and elected representatives work hand in hand.”
Michael Kong reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that foster safer and more inclusive community spaces, regardless of location.
